Rotary Club of Stirling meeting of 10/3/17.
President Alan Rankin welcomed members to a business meeting dealing mainly with matters arising from last week's meeting of the club council.
The club AGM will be on 14th April, but the
club assembly has been moved from 1st June to 25th May as we will be involved in Gardening Scotland from the 2nd till the 4th of June. It has been decided to cancel the regular Friday meeting on 2nd June. Members approved a donation towards the cost of our recent speaker Anna Cockburn's trip to take part in community activities in Ghana, adding to what she has already raised herself. In general, it was felt the Rotary Foundation is already involved with all the current international problem areas, but we have contributed toward the costs of the School of English for their ongoing work with recent Syrian immigrants.
Jan Anderson is trying to arrange another film night at the McRobert, previously a very successful fund raising event. It is hoped that this will take place in May. The area 7 final of the primary school quiz will be at 2.20 pm on the 24th April in the Logie Theatre at Stirling University. Our candidate for the boy's RYLA camp has been accepted, but unfortunately our female candidate was not but only because the camp was already fully subscribed. The charity walk on the Fife coastal way is planned for 18th June.
Treasurer Edmond Mansion presented the club accounts covering 1/7/16 to 6/3/17, which were noted.
Our next meeting is on 17th March. Speaker's host Malcolm Cordwell Smith, Visitor's host Gordon Murphy. For further info www.stirling.rotary1010.org
