Rotary club of Stirling meeting of 9th June 2017.
SVP Stewart Wilson welcomed members to a business meeting following the club council meeting of 22 May. Stewart thanked all members involved in our participation last weekend at Gardening Scotland at which we raised
£1780 net. Our main charity this year was Parkinson’s Scotland. Next Sunday ,18th June, is our sponsored walk along the Fife coastal path.
Walkers and drivers should make contact to arrange pick up times. Hon membership of the club has been offered to, and accepted by Alastair McNeill and Sandy Morrison. This was enthusiastically supported by the members. It was agreed that we would submit our excellent club bulletin, written for many years by Sandy Leven, for a district award.
Rotary district 1020 has started a fund to help the Barra families and the surviving youngster caught up in the Manchester bombing. Clearly it has, and will continue to put financial strain on the families and we were happy to contribute to this. Council has suggested a rise in membership fees from £ 85 to £95 pounds, and this was approved.
Next week's speaker will be provided by Peter Mehta, and the visitor's host is Tom Wilson. For further info www.stirling.rotary1010.org
