The club golf AM/AM is on Friday 25th August at Stirling.

Our speaker, Rosie Walker is a senior project officer with the Conservation Volunteers. The organisation, founded in 1959 and covering the whole of the UK, operates through local groups, 5 in Scotland and is project based. Each local group choses it's own projects, with oversight from above. The projects cover a wide variety of activities, with the aim of involving volunteers from the local community, with an emphasis on "green" issues. For example they are currently involved in reclaiming Flanders Moss, flood monitoring, and litter picking in problem areas, all getting individuals out into their local community, improving the environment and enhancing the quality of their own life. Funding comes from the Scottish government and many other bodies such as the Forestry commission with whom they undertake joint ventures. Giving the vote of thanks, Peter Mehta asked how many of had heard of this group, the answer very few, which is surprising given the length of time it has existed , the number of people involved, and the fact that it works out of Stirling. He thanked Rosie for a most informative talk.

Our next meeting on 23rd June will see our new president Stewart Wilson take up his role.  Visitor's host Philip Allison.  For more info www.stirling.rotary1010.org
