2 opportunities in one!

Visit to Frampton Court

Over recent years many in the Club have become familiar with the traditional village scene offered by Frampton on Severn, with summer cricket on the reputedly longest village green in England, its Country Fair in the autumn and a wealth of classical and medieval agricultural and pastoral features.

The timber-framed 16c.Manor and Wool Barn face the 18c.Frampton Court , Orangery and Park across Rosamund’s Green to provide the architectural focus.

A continuing interest has been our annual fund-raising event of the Hidden Gardens of  Frampton that has enabled us to support various village causes, not least towards fitting out the village museum being created in the Manor House.

Our recent visit gave us the privilege of a conducted tour of Frampton Court and the embryo museum, whose contents and displays showed us an impressive record from the eleventh century to date of this ancient settlement, the spread of the Clifford diaspora, and the Clifford Family’s continuing practical stewardship of the 1500 acre estate.

Our thanks to our host Rollo Clifford who kinldy welcomed us,  and to local residents Jean and David Speed as our helpful and very knowledgeable guides.
