Mr Antony Robbins Director of Communications, Museum of London

Our speaker on the 16th. February was the Director of Communications for the Museum of London, Antony Robbins. His talk about the history of the museums and in particular the museums of London was most entertaining and interesting. Antony's main focus was of course The Museum of London situated in the Barbican and aided by excellent photographs he plotted the development of the building and told us of the philosophy of the museum. He talks with both enthusiasm and passion about the current museum and also the plans to move the museum to the old Spitalfields Market site if and when planning permission is granted. We wish the directors well with their ambitious plans because if all goes well we will not only get a new larger and interactive museum we will also see the restoration of the famous old Victorian market building. Finally if you have the time I would urge you to watch the recording of his talk and also to download the Street Museum app. Now that is a real eye opener if you walk around historical areas of London. Thanks to Anthony and all the many others  involved in keeping the history of London alive we have and will have a wonderful museum to visit and IT IS FREE.

George Larkey
