ACTIVITIES SUPPORTED 2015/16

These are the organisations and activities we have supported over the last year with money from our fundraising.

YOUTH AND YOUNG PEOPLE

Funding and practical assistance  for the annual all-Island Rotary KidsOut and KidsHear outings for children with special needs.

Organisation of all-Island Rotary Schools Youth Speaks competition.

Donations to local primary school to enable children to take part in school trips. 

Continuing guidance and financial support to local young people to help them with their growing Interact Club including support for their events.

Donation to local Young Enterprise group to support their Dragon’s Den project.

Donations to Ellen MacarthurTrust from SailOver raffle and President’s box..

Together with other IW Rotary Clubs providing IT equipment for The Foyer helping deprived young people.

Donation to ASTO sail training organisation.

Donation to Challenge and Adventure to provide kit for young people.

Donation toIW Youth Concert band.

Funding 13 students fromSt. George’s School to attend course at UKSA.

 

GENERAL LOCAL COMMUNITY

On-going support, financial and practical, to Earl Mountbatten Hospice including car parking at Barton Manor events, marshalling at Walk the Wight, sale of calendars and others.

Profile and fund raising fun event on Cowes Parade during AAM Cowes Week.

Transport, Christmas lunch and entertainment for local Senior Citizens in conjunction with Age UK.

Organised a Christmas concert with Cowes Concert Band at St. Mary’s Church.

Collected for charity fund with Santa’s float  prior to Christmas.

Donation to Cowes Sailability Club for the disabled – for vessel maintenance.

Donation to Age UK for defibrillator training.

Hosted visits from Lymington and Island Rotary Clubs.

With Cowes RNLI ran successful joint horse race fundraising evening..

 Donation to Cowes Alzheimers Café.

Donation to REMAP, local makers of unique equipment for the disabled.

Donation to RIBI fund for relief of UK flood victims.

Attended Volunteer Fair at Northwood House.

Attended Picnic in the Park to commemorate Her Majesty’s 90th birthday..

Donation to Royal British Legion from Remembrance Day lunch.

Joint sponsorship of Isle of Wight Literary Festival.

 

INTERNATIONAL

Hosted a weekend visit from 15 Members of our twin club, La Rochelle.

With other Island organisations and local schools, took part in the annual shoebox appeal, sending over 2,500 boxes of children’s toys etc to deprived areas of the world, well above the average for District which totalled 28,000.

Donation to local lady who is helping to set up small businesses in Africa.

Donation and two Aquaboxes  to NEPAL earthquake rebuilding fund.

Provide a SHELTERBOX for Syrian refugees.

Provided aSHELTERBOX for Ecuadorian earthquake refugees.

Continuing support for Tools for Self Reliance jointly with another local charity sending redundant tools to overseas users.
