In June 2016 members of Rotary@Kingsholm walked together with friends and family to walk the full 102 miles of the beautiful Cotswold Way national trail in a single day.

Ten teams of four to six walkers gathered for a group breakfast at the Hatherley Manor Hotel and were then driven by support teams to start locations along the route ranging from from Chipping Campden in the north to Cold Ashton in the south. Each team then walked up to 12 miles of the total. After a full day's walking the teams were brought back back to the Hatherley Manor for a celebratory Pig Roast Supper.

The Cotswold Way is characterised by beautiful views and a large number of quite steep ascents and descents so every stage of the walk presented its own challenges.  But it was fun and, best of all, we raised a total of £5000 towards a full year total of £10,000 the Club was able to donate to Alzheimer's Research UK to support vital research into dementia treatments and prevention.

We enjoyed the challenge so much that we resolved to repeat the event but, this time, open it to other groups to enable them to raise funds for the causes they hold dear.

We invite other Rotary Clubs, Charity Fund Raisers, Youth Organisations and other organisations supporting community projects to consider entering a team, large or small to join us and "Walk the Cotswold Way in a Day" on 4th June 2017.
