Attending a Rotary District Conference is an ideal opportunity to meet up with ‘old’ friends and make new ones whilst enjoying innovative, informative and entertaining speakers alongside good food and first-class entertainment.

Venue

For 2018 we have selected The Grand Harbour Hotel in Southampton – a stunning four-star hotel overlooking both the Solent and the mediaeval city walls, yet within walking distance of Southampton’s city centre, the vibrant West Quay Shopping Centre, the city’s museums, art gallery and Ocean Village – a delightful marina surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars and cinemas. We have exclusive use of the hotel’s Mayflower Suite for the weekend, which offers superb conference facilities, a separate room for our Rotary Showcase and its own bar! The hotel also boasts a Health Club and Spa, indoor swimming pool and gymnasium for those who wish to keep fit or be pampered.

Speakers

We have booked a wide variety of speakers, from local to international charities, from interesting and informative to inspirational, from tear-jerking to humorous. All are leaders in their respective fields on diverse topics affecting us today. There will be presentations on Artificial Intelligence, The Mary Rose and by a famous paralympian. There will also be speakers by Rotary partnerships and other charities such as Alzheimer’s Society, Human Trafficking, Shelterbox, 500 Miles, Breast Cancer Care, Young Citizen, Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation, plus some Sunday Thoughts and a message from Rotary International. A packed and inspirational programme!

Friday Afternoon/Evening

Get together for a complimentary Pimms on the Terrace before relaxing and preparing to join our fantasy Cruise Line that will whisk you around the world without you leaving the hotel! There will be no need for passports or lifejackets as we aim to recreate the magic of the open sea and the glamour of luxury cruising! As you enjoy your three course evening meal your talented crew will provide top quality musical entertainment portraying our ports of call. Dress Code: Anything you would wear on board a ship!

Saturday Afternoon

Free time, or why not participate in our Southampton Treasure Hunt with proceeds in aid of End Polio Now.

Saturday Evening

Formal Black Tie Dinner followed by dancing to Rotary District 1240 favourites, The Jacob Project.
