On the afternoon of Friday 11th October ten Dalbeattie High School pupils took part in the Rotary Young Chef competition.
Five local Rotarians were present, and did their best to help with the tasting. It was agreed that overall the quality of their preparation, cooking and presentation were in advance of anything that had been seen in previous years.
The professional judges – Peter Wilson Walker (Caterbirds), Linda Brown (Laurie Arms) and Cheryl Radwell (Willow Tree Palnackie) ably assisted by the Rotarians, eventually placed Alice Maxwell in first place with Georgia Johnston as runner – up.
The winner and runner-up will now take part in the Rotary District 1020 Area Competition which is being held at Kirkcudbright Academy on Tuesday 15th November. The winners then carry on through various competitions, to hopefully reach the final which is a National competition.
