2016 Ultimate Quiz Winners
With £4000 raised from the clubs annual Ultimate Quiz both Rotary charities and Children in Need will benefit
It was a full house in the Purvis Suite at East End Park on Friday 19th November as the club's annual Ultimate Quiz raised over £4000 for Rotary Charities and BBC Children in Need.20 teams competed for the winner's prize which was won - at their eleventh time of trying - by 'The Brick Counters' a team of (mostly) quantity surveyors, consisting of Bob Mitchell, Tony Donaldson, Yvonne Bell and Anne Diack who have taken part in the quiz ever year since its inception, and who graciously gifted their £400 prize money back into the charity pot.
The winners £400 prize money, made our profit on the night a highly respectable £4,000. Included in this total was an amazing £570 from the raffle alone: Liz and Tom were really impressed by the quality of the raffle prizes this year, which no doubt helped sell tickets. The winning team members will each receive a bottle of champagne as a thank you from the club and the team also takes this year's winner's trophy. Dave Riddell's team, 'We Thought it was a Disco', won the prize & trophy for most sponsorship raised for the second successive year - well done Dave!
Our very own and first-ever club team, 'GP Plus Three', came in fifth - a great result. I hope we will have more club teams in the future. Particular thanks to our two anchormen - Greig as MC and Douglas as quiz setter and quiz master. We are lucky to have such talent in our club.
The Ultimate Quiz is one of our major fundraisers and its success will help ensure we can fulfil our charitable objectives over the next year, including of course, a substantial donation to BBC Children in Need.
It was decided to donate £1,500 to Children in Need and follow the links below for a Certificate for the donation and a letter of thanks. ChildrenINCertificate.pdf ChildrenINThanksLtr.pdf
