The meeting took place at the Barbados Hilton on Thursday 24 November and was an extended event to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the island's independence. It was very well attended with lots of local dignitaries, press representatives and photographers there to witness a talk by the Barbadian Olympic heptathlete and high jumper Akela Jones who competed at Rio this year. She came from a very poor background and was brought up in a children's home. It was an inspiring story.

Linda on the left is pictured with the President of the Rotary Club of Barbados, Lisa Cummins as they exchange gifts including a locally sourced Christmas pudding (The Goat Project) together with some Kendal Mint Cake as gifts from our Club. They also exchanged Cub Pennents and we will undoubtedly "Toast" their friendship from time to time.

Lisa's day job is as the Executive Director of the Barbados Coalition of Service Industries, clearly a high flyer.
