The Rotary Club of Stanford le Hope and Corringham are glad to have sponsored a First Responders unit in Stanford le Hope and Corringham. On Tuesday 27 February our Club President, Dave Angus (pictured right), presented a defibrillator to the first member of our local First Responders Team who was accompanied by a representative of Essex Ambulance Service.
The club has funded the defibrillator and its maintenence for four years from funds donated by residents of Stanford and Corringham some of whom may benefit from the local service
Sam Yates (pictured centre) is the first "First Responder" in the Stanford and Corringham area to be recruited and trained. However, more recruits are urgently needed before the service can begin to operate. Training takes only a day and no specialist knowledge is required.
Because they are local, First Responders frequently arrive before ambulances in appropriate cases, and are able to save lives by providing care in the interval. If you are interested in finding out more about this life saving service please call John Hopkins (pictured left) of Essex Ambulance Service on 01245 443344.
