Leave from the “Brampton Halt”
Pitsford Rd, Chapel Brampton, Northampton NN6 8BA

This month’s walk is from the “Brampton Halt” in Chapel Brampton. It’s roughly a 3/3.5 mile walk, which I am sorting out now!
Meet as usual at 10.15 for a 10.30-ish start.

Five of us, plus Jack the dog, set out from Brampton Halt in cloudy weather. We braved the traffic to Chapel Brampton and then traveled on the path to the top of the hill with 360 degree views. Back down on a very well kept private road to the Welford road at the red house.
Crossing the fields to Merry Tom Crossing gave us a view of the barley fields, and we noticed that the dry weather had caused earthquake like cracks in the pathway, not mentioned in the risk assessment. After a short rest we walked on the Brampton and Pitsford disused railway past the steam engines and railway carriages being restored by dedicated volunteers to the pub
Valja Roseman had been reading and housekeeping in her motorhome while we were walking, and joined us for lunch. The food at Brampton Halt is excellent. It was a very pleasant morning with only an occasional light drizzle.
