General Meeting

Sue Hills, Opening Your Heart to Bhutan:

Sue, who works closely with Emma Slade as secretary of Opening Your Hearts to Bhutan, gave a short presentation with photographs of their visit to Bhutan in October.     She showed us how the work of the charity is helping children and disabled people in the country.     There is a particular need for clothes and head coverings and knitted hats for babies.     Opening Your Hearts to Bhutan now has a website with a shop set up by a volunteer which can be visited at www.openingyourhearttobhutan.com.       The District Grant for the charity to purchase educational materials has gone through and the cheque should be cleared on Monday.

Reverse Advent Calendar, December 7th:

David M. collected food donations for the Reverse Advent Calendar.     If you have any donations of food these could be collected with the Christmas Food Collection on December 10th.

Christmas Dinner, Whitstable Castle, Friday, December 8th:

The Christmas Dinner is tomorrow evening at 7.00 for 7.30 pm.    Pat reminded everyone to bring money as there will be a raffle for a prize donated by Leila, Daughter-in-Law of Spyros and Pippa.    Pat has also put together some Christmas bags.

Christmas Food Collection, Sunday, December 10th:

The Christmas Food collection will take place next Sunday, December 10th, and as much help as possible is needed.     Please meet up at 3.45 pm (not 4.30 pm as in the folder) on Primrose Way close to the junction with Chestfield Road.

Christmas Decorations, Whit and Tank Hospital, Wednesday, December 13th:

The Christmas Decorations at the Whit and Tank hospital will be put up on Wednesday, December 13th.  If you can help please meet in the foyer of the hospital at 6.00 pm.   

Meeting, Thursday, December 14th:

The meeting on Thursday, December 14th will now be at the Golf Club as usual but please note to meet upstairs for coffee before breakfast.

Board Meeting, Thursday, December 14th;

The next Board Meeting will be held at Robert’s house at 7.30 pm on Thursday, December 14th.

Car Parking, December 16th:

Godfrey could still do with some help for the last car parking of the year.

Breakfast at the Bubble, December 28th:

David M. asked that all those going for breakfast at the Bubble on December 28th to pay him next week.  The cost is £10.00 per person.

Car Parking, January 13th.

Just a reminder the next car parking in the New Year is on Saturday, January 13th.     There is a form in the folder.

Visit to India by Hilary, January:

Hilary will be going to India in January to work with a Rotary team immunising children against polio.     She would be very grateful for small gifts such a pencils and rubbers that she can give to children to encourage them to attend the clinics.   Please bring some things next week for her to take.

Spyros brought some artichokes for sale.

As usual Paul was merciless.             

Raffle:

Andrew B. eschewed a bottle of rose wine and took instead a tin of tea and some soap;  David K. made off with the wine.
