(L-R) Rtn Bill Farmer (Rayleigh Mill), Rtn. Eric Jude (Leigh-on-Sea), DG Terry Dean, Rtn. Pat Dean (Hadleigh Castle),

Founder's Night this year was hosted by the Rotary Club of Westcliff-on-Sea, who celebrate their 50th Anniversary Year this year. A very enjoyable evening was spent in the company of members from several District 1240 Rotary Clubs, including Westcliff-on-Sea, Leigh-on-Sea, Hadleigh Castle, Rayleigh Mill, Rochford, Southend-on-Sea and Thorpe Bay.

Good food, good fellowship together with a charming performance of singing and dancing by the students of the Mushroom Theatre Group.  The President of the Rotary Club of Westcliff-on-Sea, Rt. Chris Barnwell presented a cheque for £2,000 to the Group, to assist them with the continuing refurbishment of their premesis.

The evening was also enlightened by a limerick competition that entailed each club's entry being read out by one of its members.  The competition, which was judged by DG Terry Dean, was won by a duo from the Rotary Club of Hadleigh Castle, with a somewhat risque little ditty extolling the virtues of our lady Rotarians.
