The Rotary Foundation centenary celebration.

A special evening, to celebrate the Centenary of The Rotary Foundation.

The Rotary Club of Stockport Lamplighter held an event on Wednesday 19 April 2017 to celebrate the Centenary of The Rotary Foundation. This was attended by the Mayor and the Mayoress of Stockport, Councillor Chris Gordon and Dr Margaret Gordon, as well as the District Governor Stan Bowes PHF and the District Foundation Committee Chair Mike Payne MPHF. Also present were several past members of the Club, and many of our members' partners.
Najib Yousif, the chair of the Foundation and International Committee made a presentation about The Rotary Foundation which was co-ordinated with the music that was played by Leo Strelle (Violin), Lucy Warm (Piano), Ellen Buller (Flute) and Nina Rivas (Cello).
Two of the Club's Founder Members, Richard Hardman and Neil Slack were recognised as Paul Harris Fellows and were jointly presented with their PHF certificates and pins by the District Governor and the President of the Club.
In February we sadly had to say goodbye to a dear friend and fellow Lamplighter. This former Foundation chair had always supported and championed the good work done by Rotary's own charity and President Bernadette made the announcement that he had left £6,000 in his will to The Rotary Foundation.

With thanks to David Scott and John Palmer for photography
