Annual National Rotary Competition for essayists and poets - 500 Words.


We are thrilled to announce that Archie Nye from St Faiths School has gone on to be Runner-up in the National Finals of Rotary Young Writer of the Year 2016-17 in the 7-10 year old Junior Age Range -

This year the Cambridge South Rotary Club Competition invited entries from students in the area on the Subject of Reflections.

A 500 word limit - prose or poetry.

WE CAN NOW ANNOUNCE the worthy Club Winners 2017 are :

JUNIOR AGE RANGE -          7-10years old

      First - Archie Nye (St Faiths School, Cambridge) with an essay

      Second - Rachel McCormack (Monkfield School, Cambourne)

      Third - Patrick Tarpey (Monkfield School, Cambourne)

INTERMEDIATE AGE RANGE -         11-13 years old

       First - Helena Auty  (Saffron Walden County High School) - with a poem

       Second - Nina Lane (St Faiths School, Cambridge)

       Third - Lucy Koiza (St Faiths School, Cambridge)

SENIOR AGE RANGE -        14-17 years old

       First - Sara Pollini (Parkside Acadamy, Cambridge) with an essay

       Second - Lojen al Thahabi (Parkside Academy, Cambridge)

       Third - Joe Bromley (The Leys School, Cambridge)

All 153 entries have received a Participation certificate etc.  Organisers Maureen and Paul have visited all the schools involved to present Certificates and Prizes to all competitors.

Winning compositions in the 3 age groups were put forward to the Rotary District (East Anglia) & National Finals.
