THE PAUL HARRIS AWARD
Certain Members receive a special award in recognition of their activities
THE PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP
This Award is named after the founder of Rotary International. Fellowships are awarded by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. It is Rotary’s way of recognition and appreciation of Rotarians’ contributions to an array of programmes such as Polio Plus, Water Aid and many others; projects that will improve and invigorate the lives of people around the world, enhancing international friendship and understanding.
Clubs contribute to Rotary Foundation and receive Credits which lead up to the Club being able to award a Fellowship. The club decide, without the knowledge of the recipient, which member has earned, though services to the Club and Rotary, the honour of receiving the Fellowship. Currently the Club has awarded 8 Paul Harris Fellows, who are Brian Fitzpatrick, Norman Freeston, Peter Jones, Peter Martin, Doug Nurney, Michael Sandys and Richard Piper. The last recipient of the award was Paul Dean (sadly since deceased) who received his in February 2016
