Orpheus Trust

President's Charity two years running

The Orpheus Trust was set up by Richard Stilgoe in a farm house just outside the M25 between Godstone and Bletchingly at the foot of the North Downs.

The aim of the Trust is to use perforamnce arts to enable younsters with disability to lead independant lives.

The centre now provides accessible accomodation for students to practice the life skills critical to independant living whilst pursuing their education and engaging in performance arts.

Club members have had opportunities to visit the centre and were greatly impresssed by the facilites and the students we met. We were allso very impressed by the scale of the contriubution made by volunteersto the running or the organisation.

At the end of her year as Club President Vera handed over a cheque for £1000 to the Orpheus Trust as a contribution to eqpiping the kitechen where the students at Orpheus aquire those all important food preparation skills in a safe environment.

We follow  @orpheuscentre on Twitter - retweeting and making their messages relevant to Croydon where that makes sense.

You can see more details about the centre at their website: http://www.orpheus.org.uk/
