On Saturday 12th May, The Forest of Blean Rotary Club held a highly successful “Night at the Races” at Tyler Hill Village Hall. The Fund Raising event attracted well over a 100 eager punters who took part in a competition to see who could win the most fake money over 6 screened horse races. Each person was given an initial stake of $50 and by shrewdly betting on the 6 races they had to increase their overall sum. At the end of the evening The winner Valerie Pearce had accumulated over $440 and won a voucher to be spent at William Hill. Club President, Chris Jackson said “ it was really pleasing to see so many people take part and enjoy themselves. The atmosphere was incredible as the punters cheered home their respective horses”. Les Leslie, fundraising chair said, “ we raised an incredible 1500 pounds for our main 2 Charities, shelter box and hounds for heroes, with the final third going to local charities. I would like to thank all those who came along and supported the event and also all those who helped put the evening on”.
