George Kennedy CBE – English Cricket
George has been involved in the Medical Industry most of his working life; with Smiths Industries plc (a FTSE Co )for thirty years, as a main Board Director and Chairman of the Medical Group, retiring from Smiths in 2000.
Since retiring, George has Chaired several Hi -Tech Companies as a Non -Exec Including Eschmann Equipment which was a family business owned by the Kennedys and another family.
He has chaired various Government Committees including the Committee for South Africa Trade followed by the Chair of the Advisory Group on Africa and the Middle East. This meant extensive travel throughout the area.
Latterly he was involved in setting up the Committee on assisting Iraq to re build its health care infrastructure.
He was one of the Two founders of ABHI,( Association of British Health Care Industries) In 1976 and has served two periods as Chairman and is now President of the Association.
In 1997 he was awarded the CBE for Services to the Health Care Industry and Exports.
Recently he has been assisting ABHI with their export efforts and chaired the International Policy Group.
For nine years he Chaired Kent County Cricket Club retiring last season.
Guided the club to financial security and represented Kent on the ECB the governing body of Cricket in this Country.
