Wadebridge Rotary Club hosts a meeting with local community organisations

‘Speed Dating’ comes to Rotary!

The meeting of Wadebridge Rotary Club on Thursday 23rd March was an opportunity for Club members to spend time with representatives from several community organisations, providing an opportunity for all to learn more about each other.  Those organisations which very kindly accepted the invitation to this first such event were:

North Cornwall Advertiser (Linden Jones)

Concern Wadebridge (Andy Lyle)

Churches Together (Roy Holmes)

Tesco plc (Marion Willetts)

Wadebridge Town Council (Tony Rush)

Wadebridge Chamber of Commerce (Steve Knightley)

HfT (Sue Chapman)

Inner Wheel (Brenda Sandry)

Wadebridge Carnival (Robin Moorcroft)

From Rotary’s perspective, this meeting was planned to help members to better understand more of what is happening in its local community of Wadebridge and surrounding villages, and thus to assess how the Club might become more effective in the help and support given, in pursuit of the Object of Rotary, “to encourage and foster the ideal of service”.

The Club also hope that in turn, the organisations attending welcomed the opportunity to engage with Club members to gain understanding of Rotary and the work done locally, nationally and internationally.

Each organisation attending this meeting were offered a few minutes to ‘set out their stall’ and by mixing people up there was good conversation throughout the buffet meal so expectations are high.  It was a very convivial evening.
