George Beautiman presented a talk about the steam driven water pump that he has spent many years restoring at Broken Scar, Darlington
George Beautiman gave a very interesting talk about the Tees Cottage Pumping Station. The pumping station is at Broken Scar in Darlington and and is one of very few working steam driven beam engines. It is also a unique in that it houses real examples of all the various generations of pumping systems starting with steam, then gas turbine and finally electic. George also provided some interesting history of Darlington and how the Pease family were central to the development of the town.
