Young Writer competition

Success for Penicuik youngster.

Young Writer competition

The Rotary District 1020 (which covers the South of Scotland) presentation of Young Writer awards took place at Waterstones, Glasgow on Saturday 13th May 2017.

Coordinator, Bill McMullen, in his welcome gave special mention to Rotary Club of Penicuik saying that this was the third year in a row that the club have had a District winner. First it was in the senior category, then the intermediate and this year Annabelle Proctor won the junior section. Bill suggested that other clubs should make a bigger effort to knock Rotary Club of Penicuik off the pedestal!

Scottish Crime Writer, Michael J. Malone presented Annabelle with her glass award whilst Brenda Waugh, West Area ADG, presented the book token prize, gifted by Waterstones. A super happy Annabelle was supported by her proud Mum and Grandad, and Rotarians Janet Richardson and Jean Lennie. The Rotarians just happen to be two of her Brownie Leaders.

Annabelle's story on the given topic "Reflections" was also used as part of her Brownie Writers Badge. Well done Annabelle.

Also, many thanks to Bill's Rotary Club ‐ Coatbridge, Airdrie and Monklands who very kindly sponsored the awards for all three sections
