Dave Covill Challenge Cup and Partners Skittles Cup

Report on the 3rd year of the Dave Covill Challenge Cup and the Skittles Evening for the Partners Cup.

The third year of the Dave Covill Challenge Cup was played for during the months of November, January, February and March in memory of a much loved and respected Rotarian Dave Covill.

The aim of the competition is to celebrate our past relationship with Dave and also to raise money for local Charities. This year the charity selected was Rotary "Kids Out" at Longleat.

A total of 14 Rotarians took part in this years challenge with varying experinces of playing skittles. The venue was the Chester House Club in Christchurch Street, Frome.

The competition heated up over the four legs and culminated in Rtn  Chris Good winning by 2 shots from Rtn Jerry Lewis who was 1 shot in front of Rtn Terry Hulbert.

4 great evenings in the true tradition of Rotary were held along with fantastic suppers being laid on by Jackie.

The yearly challenges culminate in the playing of the Partners Cup in which rotarians and their partners, (substtitutes supplied by Inner Wheel) play for the privillage of having thier name engraved on the historic Partners Cup.

A great evening was had on the 5th May at the Chester House Club where 16 couples played for the much valued trophy which was won again for the second year Jerry and Kate Lewis.

The evening closed with the presentation of the Dave Covill Challenge Cup to Chris Good and the Partners cup to Jerry & Kate Lewis.

This evening also raised money to suppliment that raised by the Dave Covill evenings.

The total raised for "Kids Out" was supplimented by additional donations from some members and the total raised was a fantastic £575. This money will help fund 36 school children from Frome schools who will be taken to Longleat for the day with upto 1000 other chidren from the South West of England sponsored by other Rotary Clubs inthe district.
