Paul Denny (Snow Business)

Snow Business is the World Leader in Snow, Artificial Snow, and Winter Effects and is based at the Snow Mill, Ebley, Stroud.

The company was founded 35 years ago by Darcey Crownshaw and now operates in 35 Countries, around the World, with their own Snow Business companies, authorised Dealers and Distributors.

Having worked on over 300 Movies and numerous famous Television Shows, film and TV are just two of the company’s major customers.  As an example, if a Film Maker is expecting the weather to deposit real snow and it does not arrive, then they risk losing one million pounds, per day, in filming costs so they have to be to ready to make alternative arrangements. At Snow Business they have over 200 different types of snow which can be presented from falling snow in gentle flurries through to raging blizzards.

Many other individualised events, such as shops, shopping centre arcades, weddings and other social functions, need snow backgrounds to meet their specialised requirements.

Snow Business can also create “Real Snow”, and they have the fastest system in the World, which can produce 1000 cubic metres of snow in just 24 hours.  This has been particularly important for such spectacular events as Ski Jumping and as the snow is produced at minus 18 degrees, it takes a long time to melt!

Other spectacularly different effects are created with ice, whilst, at the other end of the scale, black and grey cellulose materials can be used to create fantastic burnt, charred, sooty, fire-damaged or volcanic ash effects.

This was a most wonderfully enlightening presentation and, don’t forget, if Ebley seems too far to travel, you can go online to place your own unique order for a spectacular personal event!
