President Stewart Wilson welcomed one returning visitor Rotarian Alistair Morrison to our Friday meeting. We were reminded that we are running the final of the primary school quiz, to be held at 2pm on 28th April in Stirling University. Our match in the semi-final of the Gavel on 16th April is at home.
Our own Philip Allison is fresh back from a holiday down under. Having survived fitting in his long limbs in cattle class, he and Elaine reached Melbourne where his son works as a vet, just in time to watch a recording of the Scotland England rugby match. The Scottish victory made a good start to a relaxing first week of their holiday in Bendigo. There was, of course, some golf with borrowed clubs in the unfamiliar dry landscape with attendant Kangaroos. Despite not having played for nine months Elaine beat him every time, something to do with her very low handicap perhaps! The next part of the holiday was in Tasmania, much greener, with an abundance of spectacular scenery. Obviously, a great family holiday for them both, only slightly blighted by the astonishingly high price of alcohol. The vote of thanks was given by
Alan Prentice. Our meeting next week 13th April will be a business
meeting. Visitor's host Gordon Murphy.
