Club Meeting — Hill House Big Box Appeal

Tue, Mar 13th 2018 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Graham Smith invited Lorna Hepburn to speak about the Hill House Big Box Appeal. Graham proposed the vote of thanks.

President Gordon Burgess welcomed thirteen other members and guest speaker Lorna Hepburn, the Hill House curator, who spoke about the Hill House and the Big Box Appeal.

Weather has been causing a growing number of problems with the building's structure and a radical plan has been developed to address them.

It involves building a semi-weatherproof box with at least 2.5m clearance over the whole building.

After three or so years, this should have helped to dry out the structure, although the box make need to be in place for up to ten years to complete the project.

The level of interest in the talk was such that the question and answer session ran over by 15 minutes.

Graham Smith proposed the vote of thanks. The weekly draw for the whisky miniature was won by the president, who immediately passed it on to Lorna.
