Pandas. Forbes Howie

Our speaker was Forbes Howie from the Centre of Reproductive Health at the University of Edinburgh. Forbes gave us an informative and interesting talk on the work he does for Edinburgh Zoo on monitoring the Pandas to check on their reproductive status. He explained that female Pandas are only fertile for between 12 and 36 hours and his primary role is to identify when Tian Tian is ready to be mated. He explained the difficulties experienced over the last few years and if successful this year Tian Tian could give birth on 28th August.
