Jun 2017 Physionet - Collection of Medical Supplies

Wed, Mar 1st 2017 at 9:00 am- Sat, Jul 1st 2017 - 9:00 am

an ongoing project supporting the Saffron Walden Rotary Club Physionet Project. Club Organiser Alan Edwards.

The Physionet Project is an award winning initiative that has run for more than 12 years.  The volunteers who run it pull in materials from across the country and locally Saffron Walden Club are co-ordinating collections.

Addenbrookes has proved to be an excellent source of supplies and equipment that they no longer want, but are in good condition.  Our member Alan Shipp has donated copious warehouse room to accumulate the containers-worth of medicines, crutches, wheelchairs etc that local hospitals and surgeries have been happy to recycle in this excellent way.

Next Wednesday June 21st  2017 our member Alan will again be gathering a team to box up and prepare the piles of things ready to be transported up to the Main national Store in Whixley.  From there it will be allocated and shipped out to areas of the world in the greatest current need eg Bulgaria, Bhutan, Syria, Thailand, South Africa.

Let Alan know if you can help Wednesday 21st June!

If you would like to contribute, in some other way, to this great effort please go to the Physionet website and donate through their Total Giving link.  Every bit will be used to the fullest !

Dear Supporters

I am delighted to inform you that PhysioNet has been selected as a recipient for The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service 2017. This award was created by The Queen in 2002 to mark the occasion of her Golden Jubilee, recognising excellence in voluntary activities carried out by groups in the community. It is the MBE for volunteer groups.  Our work was very much admired by the independent Assessment Committee, chaired by Sir Martyn Lewis CBE, and represents a tremendous achievement for us.
