Visit to Micro Brewery in Dunfermline

Members will travel to Dunfermline, by coach, and visit the microbrewery in the Canmore Hotel for beer and gin tastings followed by a meal

Tonight, twenty-one Rotarians, and three guests, travelled through to Dunfermline to sample the delights of the De Brus microbrewery which is based in the town’s Canmore Hotel.
The party was split into two groups for our experience. Samples of Canmore gins that are made at the microbrewery were offered. The owner Douglas Ross explained how the gin was made and examples of the botanicals used in the distillation process were passed round. Four gins were tasted, traditional, Heather and Honey, Raspberry and Gooseberry and all were very palatable!
We then moved to the brewery where a very youthful master brewer described, in great detail, the brewing process. Lager, three different beers and a stout were tasted, and enjoyed.
The group retired to the restaurant where a delicious meal was provided, washed down by pint of beer of your own choice from the five tasted earlier in the visit. This was followed by some time of fellowship in the bar.
After an excellent evening, we returned to Motherwell.
