Llanelli Rotary holds Sapphire Tea Party for the elderly

Llanelli Rotary holds Sapphire Tea Party for the elderly, to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's 65th year of reign.

Llanelli Rotary Club commemorated Queen Elizabeth II's Sapphire anniversary (65th year of reign) by holding a Tea Party for local Homes for the Elderly, Age and Dementia organisations.
On Thursday 1st June Llanelli Rotary Club delivered an extremely memorable afternoon teatime treat for more than 60 local people at Furnace Community Centre
The Rotary organising team were given huge support from a number of local companies who donated numerous items to make the event a huge success – so a big thankyou to the following :
Jenkins Bakery (Russell Jenkins Operations Director) provided a fantastic centre piece cake
Tata Steel (Joe Gallacher Works Manager) provided mini cakes
Stradey Park Hotel provided sandwich/cake stands
Graham and Cath Williams (Seaside Café) provided sandwiches and savouries
Last, but not least, the Llanelli Rotarian Team and their husbands/wives provided back ground music/ sandwiches /cakes/fondants/savouries/crisps/tea/coffee but most importantly the people energy to plan /prepare/set up/deliver and clean up after such an amazing event.

Entertainment was provided by Cor Cariad who not only delivered a fantastic show but entered into the Party Atmosphere by participating in the Communal singalong with Vera Lynn World War Two songs

We were also entertained by Past President Melanie Carroll-Cliffe's daughters, Amelia and Louisa, who gave us some modern music but delivered without accompaniment (not an easy job to do with such a knowledgable audience!)

Mark Evans, President of Llanelli Rotary reflected on the event by saying that an immense  “feeling of worth” was achieved by Rotarians and Business supporters in providing Local Community members the opportunity to enjoy such simple pleasures and fellowship.
The Rotary values and beliefs of “Service above Self” was well represented by this event.
