Christmas Dinner

Club members please log in for more information.

This was our final meeting in 2017 and time to celebrate the successes of Vale’s Got Talent, our annual Santa’s Float Collection and of course Christmas

Following our meal and the obligatory table quiz we were “treated” to the annual visit by our comedic duo of Folwell & Gray who collected donations from all members following their “personalised float story” – minimum embarrassment for maximum humour is always their aim. All monies raised are added to our “foundation fund” for 2017 -18.

A rendition of ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’ was led by our Junior Vice-Presidents Jane H and Maggie F with guests performances (in no particular order) by Mary, David E, Derek G, Ian, Allen, Duncan, Trevor, Gerry, Jenny, Peter and Adrian . Of course no such rendition could escape the critical eyes of our Judging panel. In fairness a single judge (Jo Ashmore) who awarded Trevor the prize for the most original performance of “geese a-laying”. Let me just say he won’t be using those rubber gloves or that tin foil in a hurry!!

Mercifully, the entertainment ceased at that point and we finished off the evening with communal Carol singing. I make no comment about the fact that the accompanying music was played at 45 RPM rather than the required 78 but suffice it to say that ‘Silent Night’ should have been renamed ‘Endless Night’.

Chris N was awarded the coveted “red cabbage” awarded for “a helpful email” advising what vegetables “not to have with salmon”. Guess we all know what veg Chris will be having on Christmas Day!
