Induction of new member – Sue Roberts,
Membership secretary Tony Coxhill Introduced Sue Roberts to the Club having met her at a breakfast meeting of the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce and recognising her as having the potential to be an excellent member of the Club.
Sue had been attending lunch meetings of the Rotary Club of Nantwich in order to learn more about the Club and to meet the members. Tony C commended her to be inducted as a Member of the Club.
President Tony welcomed Sue to the Club and in his induction speech President Tony stated the advantages and responsibilities of being a Rotarian and being part of, not only a local Club, but a worldwide organisation Membership would involve her in membership of a committee and actively participating in all the activities of the Club. Through such activities she would experience the benefits of fellowship. Involvement at District, National and International level would demonstrate how warm and extensive that fellowship would be.
President Tony then presented Sue with a membership pack and a Rotary pin.
Sue responded by stating that she was very pleased to be accepted by the Club as a member of the Rotary Club of Nantwich and thanked the members for the level of friendship shown to her during her visits as a guest.
Rotary was not entirely new to her as her 92 year old father was still an active Rotarian and would be enjoying his lunch that very day at the Rotary Club of Atherstone. He had expressed some astonishment that his “little girl”was to become a Rotarian and she was looking forward to attending a meeting of the Atherstone Club.
The formalities having been duly completed members had the opportunity of congratulating and talking with Sue.
