A report on the annual charity golf event
The Annual charity golf AM/Am was held at Kenwick Prtk golf club (Louth) on Thursday 20th July.
Unfortunately it rained throughout the morning and so those teams teeing off at
12 30pm and beyond started in the rain. So wet weather gear was the order of the day. However,at about
2 pm it stopped raining and we saw the sun .Teams ariving at the half way house were welcomed with warm drinks and other refreshements including sausage rolls ,sandwiches and chocolate biscuits.
The team were welcomed at the clubhouse by Rotarians Jojn Cox and Keith Burnett and raffle tickets were being sold by Carol Nidd assisted by Malcolm Hoole. The starters were John Tuke and John Spilman.
The half way house was the responsibility of President Mike and his wife Nichola assisted by other helpers (see photo).
116 golfers braved the rain at Kenwick Golf Club for our 14th Charity Golf Tournament. There were 24 teams of four including our major sponsors Lexus Hull and ABP.In spite of the rain the event saw a high standard of golf from many competitors and several high scores were posted.
After the evening meal President Mike congratulated team Selvic who were crowned the winners for the second year running. He also thanked the major sponsors Lexus Hull,A.B.P. and Bridge McFarland who sponsored the raffle. The President's chosen charity is North East Lincolnshire's Women's Aid.
Steve Kelly,Director Lexus Hull said "Rotary Club of Grimsby has done much good for many local causes over the years. We are always happy to sponsor this event because we know that Rotary ensures that every single penny of our money will end up in the hands of the chosen charities".
