Car Park given a makeover by Cowbridge Rotary Club
On summer Sunday mornings members of the Cowbridge Rotary Club are normally seen organising car boot sales in the main car park in Cowbridge. On Sunday 30th July however they were there on a rather different activity. Twenty members from the club spent the morning tidying up the hedges and weeds to make the car park a little more attractive for local visitors and locals alike. As can be seen from the “before and after” pictures, the results were quite an improvement.
Having consulted with the Vale Council, the go ahead was given to get on with the work and John Homfray of Cowbridge Compost and St Hillary farmer Howard Jones both provided essential support by collecting and taking away the waste for composting. And there was a great deal of it!
Taking a short time out from the work, Rotary Club President, David Harris, said “Cowbridge Rotary Club is there to make a difference and we have welcomed the opportunity to do our little bit for the community. I think that we have now managed to make this particular part of the town a little more attractive for visitors. After all it is often one of the first parts of Cowbridge that visitors see and they really need to be given the best possible impression”.
This work represented only the first phase of the project. In conjunction with the Vale Council, Cowbridge Rotary Club are now putting together plans to plant up shrubs in various parts of the car park later in the year to make it an even more attractive area.
