Memory Cafe opening

Wed, Aug 30th 2017 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Our new Memory Cafe had its opening session on 30th August at 2.00 pm and will continue on the last Wednesday afternoon of each month in the future.

Len and Tony with some of the guests

Our club has opened the Memory Cafe at the Sunderland Carers' Centre, Thompson Road, Sunderland, SR1 1SF.

Our President Elizabeth Wortman has wanted this to happen for some time.  She is aware of the need because of her work as a home carer.  Many of her clients suffer from dementia and so are deprived of social inter-action.  The cafe will provide the opportunity for such people to come along, with their carers, and socialise in a safe environment away from their homes.  Refreshments will be provided free of charge.

The Alzheimer Society has advised us in the setting up of this facility, which we hope will prove to be an asset in the community.  All who may benefit are welcome to attend.
