Friday 11th August saw 16 members and guests of the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill play over 18 holes at Ballards Gore Golf Club for the Paul Wellman Trophy, donated by John Fairweather in memory of member Paul.

Paul Wellman’s widow Jackie Wellman presents the trophy to the winner, Howard Pannell, together with Tournament Organiser Dave Jarvis, Martin Hodson and Alec Banyard.

The competition was played in beautiful conditions and in a convivial but competitive spirit which culminated in a win, by one point, for honorary Member Howard Pannell with Martin Hodson taking the prize for the longest drive and Alec Banyard  for nearest the pin.

The competition was followed by dinner in the clubhouse.

All who attended agreed that it was an excellent day of golf played in a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.
