Birchwood Centre

This is a homeless centre for young people based in Skelmersdale.

Birchwood Project

In Rotary Year 2019/2020 support is once again been given to the Birchwood Centre by many Clocktower members.

Every year the Club gives Christmas gifts to the residents. This year the gifts were toiletrery sets which were very much appreciated

Several Birchwood residents came along to help at the Clocktower Older People’s party in Feruary. They were They spent the afternoon helping serve the refreshments! They also turned out once again to be ‘dab hands’ at selling our chicks!!

The feedback I received following this was that they had enjoyed themselves very much and the Centre manager believes helping at such events is beneficial for the resident’s wellbeing.Thety particularly enjoyed playing bingo with the older attendees this year

The Junk CafĂ© still continues to expand as part of the community work done by the Birchwood centre. It is further embedding them in the local community and is an attempt to support the people of Skelmersdale with donated surplus supermarket food.

Clocktower members continue to visit the Centre frequently during each year.We have recently agreed to sponsor their Community mental health day during World Mental Health week in May. This event has been run before but the sponsorship will allow it to improve and expand this year. This will in turn support the Mental health and wellbeing of the residents and the local community and the work now being done in the newly opened Community Mental Health centre in Ennerdale

Another year of support much appreciated by the Manager, trustees and residents! We carry on supporting Birchwood with money but also with our TIME and showing we CARE!
