We are delighted to hear that the school and its students are thriving.
The Head Teacher and his staff send their Greetings and sincere thanks for our efforts so far.
The new buildings we have helped create are in full use and the Water storage and purification systems have helped make full attendance possible. (There must be at least 2 litres of water available per child per day).
The first photo shows cooking taking place in the brick built new kitchen, now with its roof on - so much safer than the previous wooden one. However this does illustrate why a more efficient stove is needed - as planned in the next phase of the project..
The others show the Teachers and Students with Life-straw water filters. Our Club paid for some of them and we (Colin Edge and Ron Febrey in particular ) have been instrumental in securing funding from another UK Rotary club for others.
They are standing outside the new double classroom (with offices between) that we are responsible for building, equipping, painting etc. (The Arusha Education Authority have now provided some of the equipment and also made a contribution towards the cost of the roof).
In the fourth photo you can see the Rotary plaque that was printed here (by Screens and Graphics of Cottenham) and which was taken there by Ron Febrey on his latest visit.
The children are wearing uniforms that we helped fund.
Our funding also paid for all the water butts, some of which can be seen.
Adam Burford (Rotary Scholar) to visit the school soon.
