Minutes of the Meeting

Held on Thursday, June 7th 2018

                                             At The Golf Club, Chestfield

David Bowley:

            David says that he is recovering well and hope to see everyone soon.

Sarah Street:

            Sadly Sarah will not be renewing her membership as she is returning to        Cornwall.     Her house is on the market and she hopes to come to   meetings until the sale goes through.

Paul Hooke-Overy:

            Paul was presented with the Raffle Daphne red-letter day prize which he       won at the draw on the meeting of May 31st.

Walk for Water Presentations:

            Robert S. presented Walk for Water certificates to the University of Kent       and certificates and dictionaries to Blean and Swalecliffe Primary Schools.                He also presented a dictionary to Kiki Panteli who raised £200.00 on her             own.     Robert reminded everyone that Walk for Water next year will on             March 22nd.

Volcanic Eruption Disaster in Guatemala:

            Andrew B. proposed and David K. seconded that the Club donate        sufficient funds to purchase another Shelterbox for stock to replace one         sent to Guatemala.   This was approved.

Sunday, May 20th – Car Parking at Whitstable:

            The car parking at Whitstable on Sunday, May 20th raised £278.00.

Weekend of June 8th to 10th – Visit to Apeldoorn:

            Those taking part will be leaving tomorrow.      Andrew B. reminded them     to remember to bring their Chestfield Rotary Club jerseys.     The cost this       year will be Euro 50.00.     

Thursday, June 14th and Thursday, June 21st – Meal Steward:

 Thursday, June 14th – Board Meeting:

            Robert’s last Board Meeting will be on Thursday, June 14th at his house at     7.30.

Saturday, June 23rd – Car Parking at Whitstable:

            More help is needed especially between 1.00 and 3.00 pm.   Please sign up    if you can help.

Friday, June 29th – Table Tennis Evening:

            Dave C. reminded everyone about the Table Tennis evening on Friday,          June 29th.       

Tuesday, July 3rd – Trip in the Greta:

            A number of members who have signed up have yet to pay their deposit       of £20.00 and David M. asked that this be paid to him as soon as possible.          The Greta will sail at 12 noon for a six-hour trip around Thames estuary       and the forts.    The cost will be £44.20 per person. Food is not provided       on board and everyone is reminded to bring a packed lunch.

Thursday, July 5th – Handover Meeting:

            The Handover Meeting will be held at the Golf Club on the evening of July      5th when Robert S. will hand over to Pat.      The meal will be a carvery at a        cost of £18.00 per person.     Guests are welcome.     As usual this will be a           normal meeting of the Club when everyone is expected to attend unless             they send Godfrey apologies in the usual way.    However, there will be a       form in the Folder and Godfrey asks that everyone signs up if possible as          accurate numbers are important for the caterer.

Saturday, July 14th – Whitstable Maritime Oysters and Champagne Party:

            On Saturday, July 14th, Whitstable Maritime is organising an Oysters and        Champagne Party at the Marine Hotel at 7.30 to 11.30 pm.   The cost will be £45.00 per person.

Sunday, July 29th – Herne and Broomfield Fun Day Parking:

            Looking after the parking at the Herne and Broomfield Fun Day is our           quid pro quo for the loan of the trailer for Christmas Collection and    Andrew B. still needs some more volunteers in the afternoon.    Please   sign up to help if you can.

Saturday, August 11th – Whitstable Harbour Day:

            The Club will be represented at Whitstable Harbour Day and Sue needs         more volunteers to sign up to help.

Friday, December 7th – Christmas Dinner at the Crescent Turner Hotel:

            If you have already signed up could you please do so as soon as possible.      A deposit of £10.00 per person should be paid to David M.

Bowls Evening:

            Dave C. asked if the members would be interested in a special Friday evening at his bowls club for those who have not tried the game.     There        was support for the suggestion and Dave will organise the evening.

Greetings from Other Clubs:

            Kathy brought greetings from Matius Rosenberg of Bavaria.

Master of Alms:

            Paul did the honours.

Raffle:

            Dave C. won a bottle of wine.
