David is making good progress very much thanks to Jean M. who is visiting him regularly with a course of exercises. David’s target is to get up the stairs at the Golf Club but it will be a little while before he can manage that. He is very grateful to everyone who has been in touch and would welcome visitors from the Club.
Business Meeting:
The meeting this week was a Business Meeting following the meeting of the Board last week. Please see the minutes of the Board Meeting which have been circulated.
Treasurer:
David M. reported that all is well with the Club finances. He would be grateful if final payments could be made for the Greta trip, July 3rd, (£42.20 per person less deposits already paid), the Table Tennis evening, June 29th, (£10.00 per person) and the Bat and Trap match, July 25th (£8.00 per person) and deposits for the Christmas Dinner (£10.00 per person). Payments can be made online into the RC of Chestfield Club Account: Sort code: 60-10-37; Account Number: 13515780.
Friday, June 29th – Table Tennis Evening:
Dave C. reminded everyone about the Table Tennis evening on Friday, June 29th. So far eleven have signed up and Dave is waiting for numbers from RC Herne Bay
Tuesday, July 3rd – Trip in the Greta:
The trip is now fully booked. The Greta will cast off at 12 noon and Ron suggests that everyone should aim to arrive at 11.30 am. There is parking close by at the Gorrell Tank which is now half open. Food is not provided on board and everyone is reminded to bring a packed lunch and drinks (no spirits). The balance of payments due should be made to David M. as soon as possible.
Thursday, July 5th – Handover Meeting:
As usual this will be a normal meeting of the Club when everyone is expected to attend unless they send Godfrey apologies in the usual way. However, there is a form in the Folder and Godfrey asks that everyone signs up if possible as accurate numbers are important for the caterer.
Saturday, August 11th – Whitstable Harbour Day;
Pat, Sue and Ron will be planning the Club involvement in Whitstable Harbour Day and will be meeting soon. Kathy reminded everyone that there has to be a maritime theme.
Friday, September 7th – Charity Golf Day:
There is a need for sponsors and good raffle prizes. If you can help, please contact Nick.
Saturday, November 24th – Young Chef Competition:
Owain reported that the Club will be organising participation in the Young Chef competition again this year which will take place on November 24th.
Friday, March 22nd 2109 – Walk4Water:
There is no news from Apeldoorn yet as to whether they will take part in Walk4Water next year. Erik will be looking after International for them next year.
Weekend, Jun 7th to 9th 2019 – Visit from Apeldoorn:
The date has been suggested to Apeldoorn and Andrew B. is still awaiting their confirmation.
Village Litter Pick:
The Parish Council is planning a litter pick in Chestfield in the Autumn and the Club has agreed to take part.
Any Other Business:
Ian raised the case of a local family with a severely disabled child of two- and-a-half which is seeking to raise £500.00 toward the cost of a light tube to which the child reacts. The total cost is £1,000 for which the family has been able to raise half. Ian asked that the Club donate some or all of the rest of the money required. Paul proposed the Club donate £500.00, Ron seconded it and it was agreed.
Master of Alms:
Paul did the honours as usual.
Raffle:
Kathy won a bottle of wine.
