aspect of wartime life  After the war they develpoed social care and modern socil services.
In 2013, they  became Royal Voluntary Service. They are now a major service provider giving practical help, particularly for older people, to enable choice, independence and dignity so people can enjoy an improved quality of life - all with the help of around 25,000 volunteers.
Royal Voluntary Service volunteers and staff run shops and cafés in hospitals throughout England,
Voluntary Service Home from Hospital services provides daily visits by volunteers for a period of up to six weeks helping with the garden or collecting shopping or prescriptions.

1 Loacaly 2 Manage the Old peoples center activities3rd strand Get voluntiers to do activities

Linsey talked how voluntiers can help with lonlyness and the legacy of Jo Cox with sustainable activities for old people
VVRoyal Voluntary Service volunteers can assist older people looking to get help to become more independent. Helping them with practical tasks, providing activities and company and even bringing books over with our home libraries service.

We are committed to drawing older people out of isolation with our community activities. Our lunch clubs, social centres and community cafés are all run by volunteers who provide a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Our clubs have enabled older people to meet with older friends, make new friends and even learn new skills.

In healthcare settings our volunteers are there for older people. Where family and friends cannot visit or provide transportation to and from hospital, our volunteers provide warmth and support akin to that of a family member. Sometimes getting out and about can be difficult for an older person who has limited transportation or mobility. Over the years our volunteers have used a combination of their own cars, adapted vehicles or mini buses, to give an older person more access into their local community.
