Visit to the Magic Circle
Tuesday 21 November 2017
A group club members and friends were entertained at the Magic Circle in London to an evening of mystery and wonder featuring some of the club's top magicians. We heard about the history of magic and The Magic Circle itself and witnessed amazing close-up conjuring and a magical stage show.
On a summer's day in 1905, twenty three amateur and professional magicians gathered together at London's Pinoli's Restaurant with the intention of forming a magic club. The result was the founding of The Magic Circle.
In 1998 The Magic Circle opened their own purpose built Headquarters in Euston. Here, in addition to their fully equipped theatre, they have libraries, a museum, and displays of a vast collection of posters and memorabilia relating to the history of mystery.
Unfortunately, yet understandably, photos are not allowed at the venue so we cannot post one here.
Many thanks to club member, Michael Sneary, for arranging this visit.
Comment on the evening from friends:
The Magic Circle evening was brilliant, we had no idea of how they did any of it. There was a close-up session with four different magicians doing mind-reading, card and rope tricks and sleight of hand, followed by a stage show with more mind-reading and card tricks, including someone who had performed at the Royal Family’s 70th wedding celebrations the previous evening!
