Rotary Club of Scarborough Annual Christmas Collection

Thank you for visiting our Club’s Web-site and specifically this page relating to the Club’s annual Christmas fund raising event which happens in the Festive season leading up to Christmas.

The Rotary Club of Scarborough was formed in 1921, and is a registered charity.

Our annual Christmas Collection has been held for over 50 years and has, through the efforts of The Club’s membership, raised substantial sums of money for local good causes in the Scarborough area; over £30000 in the last 10 years alone. All the proceeds of the collection are distributed without deductions for any costs or expenses. The amount of money allocated is therefore dependent upon the total monies collected and the number of Group allocations.

The charities and organisations which benefit cover a wide range of ages, groups and services.

A few examples of recipient Groups which have benefitted from this collection in recent years include Scarborough YMCA; Scarborough Boys Brigade, Scarborough Parkinson Society, Scarborough Survivors, Scarborough Sea Cadets, Scarborough Amicable Society, Scarborough’s Side by Side, Willow’s Lull, Ryedale Young Carers ,Scarborough Alzheimer's Society, St.Catherine’s Hospice and The Borough of Scarborough’s Mayoress’s Community Fund, the latter of which ,in turn ,donates to a wide range of good causes across the Borough of Scarborough-decided upon by a separate process.

If you represent a Group which you believe may warrant consideration by Rotary for an allocation arising from the Christmas , or indeed any other Rotary collections then please write to ;

The Rotary Club of Scarborough, Chairman of Community Service Committee, Scarborough Rugby Union Football Cub, Silver Royd, Scalby, Scarborough YO13 0NL

In the letter you should set out clearly the details of your Group and on what it would intend to spend any contributions received from Rotary. The Rotary Club is particularly interested in projects which are intended to benefit a number of people rather than a single person.

If your Group is selected, in principle, to receive a financial donation, a representative of your Group may be asked to attend to explain to The Club about the project and subsequently to receive any funding.

We hope you find this of interest and look forward to hearing from you.
