Raise the Roof
We are raising funds to remove the old condemned asbestos roof and update the facilities for the riding school.thumbnail view
Breaking news, we have raised almost £8,000 in 33 days!
For the first time ever in the history of Rotary International, our club has initiated a crowdfunding appeal through Global Giving to raise almost £200,000 to replace the condemned asbestos roof of the Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) school at Broadlands in Medstead, Hampshire.
The Broadlands Riding for the Disabled Group provides therapeutic facilities for disabled and disadvantaged children and adults in Hampshire. Funds are needed urgently to replace the original asbestos roof and improve the facilities so that they can continue with their invaluable work and expand for more people and their carers. Beneficiaries include those with Downs Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina Bifida and Autism as well as adult stroke victims. They also want to expand sufficiently to be able to assist accident victims and sufferers of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The first challenge is to replace a deteriorating asbestos roof on the riding school, but this is not just about repairing old outdated facilities. We have a far greater vision. It's all about redeveloping and enhancing essential facilities and services within the Broadlands' complex, acquiring and training more ponies and volunteers to enable us to offer help to an increasing number of disadvantaged people in the future.
