Steve Ellis

Steve Ellis had encountered Prostate cancer and was now a volunteer helper for ProsateUK and he offered the following tips:-

1) Looking after your Prostate

Watch your weight, eat a healthy diet and exercise more, especially brisk walking. Cut down on alcohol.

2) National Screening

Not currently available as the current PSA blood test is not reliable enough. If national screening is introduced it will mean a better test has been developed.

3) Urolift

If you have been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate, find out more about Urolift. Little is said about this procedure despite the fact that it is approved by the NHS. The procedure, is usually performed as a day patient, makes it easier to pass water.

4) mpMRI scan ( multi- parametric Magnetic Resonance imaging

If you are referred to a urologist and he recommends a biopsy of your prostate insist upon having an mpMRI scan first. This special kind of scan not only improves the diagnosis but should also reduce the incidence of unnecessary biopsies.
