Weekly Meeting at SCCC

Forty members and the Speaker- Dr Vicky Morris met at SCCC.

s/f Derek Smalley introduced Dr Vicky as one of the dedicated Consultants at our Magnificent Musgrove, whose patient he had been.
Secrets of Longevity, according to her, were the right diet, exercise, sleeping and sociability. She showed statistics gathered from areas across the World where people lived to a great age – Somerset being the foremost in Europe.
The importance of nurturing the 2Kg of microbes in our gut, and promoting a diet which encouraged the good bacteria, was one of the lines she was studying.
[She said afterwards that she had been impressed by the good humour, banter and buzz of conversation that evening, and could see how the interaction between fellow diners could be a major factor in our social lives.]
In thanking her, d/r Roger Mason said that having just moved into a bungalow, he would have to leave his car on the top of the car park and walk up and down the stairs in order to keep up his exercise. He would come back in 14 years after continuing to drink red wine as she had advised, and let her know how he had fared.
