The quiz took place on a a wet and wintry evening in The Castle Hotel, Neath. The Llantwit Major team was made up of Anthony Pugh (Captain), Bob Bevington and John Clarke with Del Williams as one of the two scorers. Neath were well supported and we took them on with some trepidation as they beat Llantwit quite heavily back in 2015. The Question Mistress was Assistant Governor Alison Sutherland who clearly believes in everyone having fun. Some of the questions were quite interesting if a little obscure and quite difficult, e.g. how many cards are dealt to each player in Contract Rummy, what is the area code for Liverpool, what was Verdi’s 3rd opera? There was a round of charades, yes charades! In all there were 9 rounds including the more traditional music, sport, food, English literature, geography, history etc., but not really a typical Rotary quiz which perhaps took a little getting used to. Most importantly everyone had a good time and Llantwit Major goes through to the next round in the District quiz.
