NHS Red Bag Scheme

The Club has funded the initial tranche of 18 Red Bags to start the trial in the North Hants area.

Southern Health NHS, Frailty Specialism wanted to initiate a local implementation of the ‘Red Bag’ scheme. The original scheme in Sutton NHS has proven to reduce transfer time and speed up discharge time.

The Club has funded the initial tranche of 18 Red Bags to start the trial in the North Hants area.

Red Bags support the transfer of elderly residents in care homes to inpatient hospital and back to care homes by standardising the paperwork and processes involved. A Red Bag is used to hold personal effects, medicines and  updated medical notes for staff involved in the transfer or care of the patient. The Bag and its contents stay with the patient until they return to the care home.
